Careereoki is a collaborative marketing initiative to stimulate career training and placement in Central Florida. We are facing economic hardships that are being felt by a wide range of people. Job loss and/or pay and career stagnation are some of the most highly publicized effects of the downturn in the market.

As such, Orange County Public Schools Career and Technical Education (OCPS CTE), WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA (WCF) and EVOK Advertising are teaming up with their shared vendors to create a unique and memorable alternative to traditional one-way marketing communication. The program offers a great way to truly connect with people during difficult times, interjecting a bit of humor when we need it most.

What do you need to enter? A video camera, a karaoke song about the career you wish you had, a verbal mention of OCPS CTE and WCF in the song, and of course creativity!

DETAILS

  • Log on to www.Power953.com for contest rules, instructions and assets.
  • Upload video of you singing about the career you’d like to have. For those who do not have access to video equipment, recording will also be done, in person, at live remotes.
  • OCPS CTE and WCF will judge all eligible entries to select five (5) finalists. Criteria: 50% Originality, 25% Creativity, 25% Humor
  • WPYO 95.3 Listeners will then vote on their favorite video, which will become the Grand Prize Winner. The remaining top two recipients of votes will become First Prize Winners.

TIME FRAME

  • Pre-Event Promotion: December 15, 2008 – January 11, 2009
  • Video Submission: Beginning 12:01 a.m. (ET), Monday, January 12, 2009 until 11:59 p.m., Sunday, February 1, 2009
  • Finalists Announced: Friday, February 6,2009
  • Voting Begins: Saturday, February 7, 2009
  • Voting ends: 11:59 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2009
  • Winner Announced: Monday, February 16, 2009

PRIZES

  • One (1) Grand Prize Winner - Scholarship to cover tuition for an OCPS CTE certificate program, a job shadow related to the career the winner sang about, resume makeover from WCF, $250 gift certificate (for a personal makeover), $100 gas card and a showcase of his/her video to Central Florida employers.
  • Two (2) First Prize Winners - Scholarship to cover tuition for an OCPS CTE certificate program, resume makeover from WCF, $50 gas card and a showcase of his/her video to Central Florida employers.
