Tsunami Website
Ideas
Tsunami is the premium mobile electronics accessories brand of Metra Electronics. In planning a major redesign of its website, Tsunami required a clean way to categorize and present its extensive product line while reinforcing the brand’s cutting-edge image.
Work
EVOK Advertising created a website with a crisp, high-impact graphic style and interactive features designed for their “stickiness” so that visitors stay longer and return more frequently to see what’s new. Colors and graphical elements reinforce those used for Tsunami packaging and print ads to strengthen a consistent brand image.
The intuitive, easy-to-navigate site provides a rotating Featured Product that changes each time a visitor accesses the Home page. Clicking on Featured Product brings up a new page that includes an enlarged photo of the product, specs (features and benefits) and additional products in the line that can be accessed by clicking on a photo or a pull-down menu.
The Home page also includes News and Events, which feature press releases regarding product introductions, Tsunami / Metra projects on television, shows involving Tsunami-sponsored vehicles and show schedules throughout the United States.
The Extras page consists of elements to keep visitors engaged with the site: IM Buddy Icons, Desktop art, and a photo gallery of Tsunami show cars and Tsunami-sponsored vehicles at such major trade and consumer shows as International CES, Hot Import Nights and Spring Break Nationals.
Result
The Tsunami website engages visitor interaction rather than serving as primarily an online version of the catalog. Detailed product information and news about Tsunami’s involvement in the custom installation scene are appreciated by the brand’s demographic of young male mobile electronics / custom modification enthusiasts.
These elements appeal both to target market consumers who can afford the competition-level, premium-priced products and the aspirational consumers who hope to work their way up to a first-class custom system in their current or future vehicle – and will be more likely to purchase Tsunami accessories as the result of ongoing familiarity with the brand.
